Recharge for winter

There is something about autumn that seems to slow the world down. Nature no longer rushes to grow or bloom; instead, the season invites us to pause, reflect and simply be.

In and around Merano, this time of year has a charm all of its own. The weather is still pleasantly mild, the vineyards are full of colour and the region feels wonderfully unhurried. It is this sense of calm that makes autumn at Villa Bea in Kuens the perfect way to ease into winter.

That crisp mountain air on quiet hiking trails …

The scent of roasted chestnuts at a traditional Törggelen evening …

The air feels fresher and clearer, while the views shift between crystal-clear postcard panoramas and a soft, almost magical sfumato reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci’s paintings. Whether we follow the traditional Waalwege irrigation channel trails or head up to secluded mountain huts, autumn walks often come with the rare luxury of having the trails almost to ourselves. And when the walking is done, Törggelen awaits with young wine and hearty South Tyrolean specialities.
